i should have known it would never work
the moment you told me how stupid
you thought it was when artists
wrote about kissing scars

and i laughed
softly
while letting go of the thought
of you kissing mine

un-revenant:

(by melancholija)

my buddy Brandon just came through with literally one of the best Kickstarter videos i’ve ever seen in my LIFE. if you have asthma, know anyone who has asthma, or just like really good hand made art books you should definitely check this out. tell your friends, support this project, your contribution is the only way great ideas like this see the light of day.

i’m backing this project, you should too.

wevealllefttheden asked: you've probably answered this question before, but where do you, and if you do it yourself, how do you get your cassettes made? (and cds too but cassettes are more interesting to me)

National Audio Company is probably the most “official” cassette printing company in the US, but to be honest i’ve had some pretty mediocre experiences with them. especially when it comes to turn around (it took two fucking months for my tapes to show up for my last album). now we normally work with a small printing company in Ohio called A to Z Audio, and i’ve had nothing but good experiences with them. i got j-cards done there and they were awesome quality. my buddy Thor just got a whole release printed there and it turned out great, imprinted cassettes and all. really quick turn around time, too.

for CDs we usually go through Discmakers. kind of expensive, but the quality is always pretty good and the customer service is really great. they screwed up on one of my larger orders so they rush printed and next day delivered a new batch to me without hesitation. that shit was impressive.

ANYWAY

comfortincategories:

My new album is up for free download on bandcamp. It’s entitled “goodbye, goodbye.” Most of these songs were written and recorded after I moved back home after having mild breakdown. This album is about saying goodbye when you didn’t have the chance to say it properly or how you intended. It could be about someone who passed away, a relationship, an event, or even the person that you used to be. I had been struggling with my friend’s death, my existence, being away from my family, and longing to change the past (redo) when writing this album. Although, these songs deal with some dark themes, I really like to think of it as a reflection and a representation of trials that everyone has to go through and coming to the realization that life is beautiful and worth living.

I wanted this album to be an intimate project and to include the amazing people who listen to my music. I took submissions for the last couple months of people who recorded their own personal goodbyes and I used them in two of the songs on the album.

I would like to thank everyone who submitted and even if your submission did not get selected, it was beautiful and i’m glad you were willing to share such an intimate moment with me.

I’ve also lowered the prices of my physical releases in order to raise some money so I can get this album licensed and up on spotify (i know a lot of people like the option to stream it on there).

being alive can be so lonely sometimes but i’m glad to have met you
limited print eco wallet is now $3

something about being empty limited print cassette is now $5

Here is the second to last song on the album.

what’s the difference pt. 2
you used to say that you loved me
now you don’t even want to touch me
even when i put you in my mouth
even when i don’t spit you out

will you help me clean this mess up
i forgot to eat, i’m such a fuck up
will you love me when i’m older
and will you love me when i’m stronger

it wouldn’t make a difference
if you would only listen

and i don’t care where your mouth’s been
if you don’t care where my hand’s been
even when i cry all night and bleed
from places that you can’t see

are you letting the absence
of someone distract you from the present
yeah, you’re in love with a ghost like me

go download the new an amiable medley album!
i damn near cried listening to it last night ;(

Anonymous asked: if you don't take anons seriously why even allow them to send you asks?

i don’t get this question. i know i said i don’t take mean or dumb anonymous messages personally, why would i not allow people to send me them at all? that doesn’t make any sense to me.

Anonymous asked: Is there a reason you are a complete fucking asshole to your fans on here? Don't get me wrong. I love your music, Mitch. But you are the most open douchebag ever. I just don't like it. Don't you appreciate them for appreciating the art?

hahaha, come on bro. i challenge you to find one single example of me being a dick to someone that wasn’t a) completely justified or b) an obvious joke. what are you even complaining about? that i refuse to take anons seriously? that i stand up for myself when idiots message me?

if you think that makes me a dick, i mean, whatever. think what you want, but you’re straight up blind if you think i don’t appreciate my fans. that’s crazy talk my dude.

Anonymous asked: do you smoke/drink or are u ~straightedge~

i quit smoking forever ago and don’t like getting drunk anymore. i still fux with beer sometimes, but just never to get drunk. smoking and drinking don’t go well with anxiety, either. that’s part of the reason i stopped.

i actually can’t stand people who pretend to be big into yoga, meditation, exercise, healthy diets, green drinks, supplements, cleanses, but then still smoke cigarettes. 9 times out of 10 those people are trend hopping like nobodies business.

sleepysoda asked: for that person asking about mics, if you're rly in the lower price range Blue's snowball mic is pretty damn good for how cheap it is

i don’t knowwww if i totally agree. i mean the snowball is okay, but it’s a desktop podcast mic at best. for the same price you could get a cheap live mic and use it for recording, at least that would have an XLR input.

then again, this is coming from a guy who recorded a song with a VHS camera running into a computer haha.

Anonymous asked: take a picture of your boner

why you gotta make me use the “check your moms phone” joke twice in one week smh

crowdsourceinspiration asked: Are you afraid the move to Yahoo will hurt your business? I know your art is pure and true, but Tumblr seems to be an important part of how you make a living off your art, and it might get screwed up soon. Where would you "go" digitally next?

nah i’m not trippin’ about yahoo anymore. hearing them promise that they had no intention of getting in the way put me at ease, i mean they can’t afford to make the Flickr mistake again. none of the policies are changing, David still runs the company, we still have the same staff, they’re keeping all of their employees, they’re not even moving offices. i doubt we’ll even see the Yahoo! logo anywhere.

but yeah, to answer your question, if yahoo did hypothetically fuck things up and everyone jumped ship i would probably just buy server space to host everything i have up currently (songs, writing, the chatroom, etc). statcounter shows that more than half of my hits come from people going directly to my blog. they aren’t coming from tumblr users who see my posts and check out my page, they’re coming from people who already regularly check flatsound.org, so moving to something else wouldn’t bother me so much. i’d miss the communal aspects of sharing things on tumblr, but it wouldn’t effect me dramatically as a business.

who cares tho the internet is a confirmed fad smh wake me when yo-yos and pogs are in again.

social-illness asked: Dude how do you like that Blue Spark Condenser Microphone? I've been looking into one of those for a little while now. Any thoughts?

the spark is great, man. it’s probably one of the best microphones for home recordings just based on how versatile it is. the only negative aspect of it that i’ve heard from other people is like, unlike other Blue mics that are really mind blowing at recording specific things, the spark is pretty equally good at most everything. to me, that’s a plus. i’d rather have something good at everything i throw at it than one 600 dollar mic that’s designed specifically for recording bass, you know? especially for only two hundred dollars.

but yeah, for the price it’s about as good as you’re going to get. i’d definitely recommend.

is it hypoallergenic? oh yeah people are super allergic to this blanket.

living room recording. new flatsound, anyone?
